I recently updated the animal life count on the Littleville Falls Wildlife Area. Adding more skunk, rabbit, fox, deer, coyote, lynx and cougar to the display. That would be the same area that my indoor layout is named after. It represents a wild refuse for all kinds of animals - mostly those that we are familiar with in Maine.
Moose and Black Bear dominate the model accounting for ten of the 30 life forms hidden amongst the foliage. There is even a recent addition of an eagle with a trout in its talons.
The model mountain contains two operating waterfall systems. They give the appearance of one long waterfall that starts at the top of the mountain and plunges all the way down to the bottom of the trestle that curves around the waterfall. The trestle is 44 inches high and is a feature point at one end of the indoor layout. Two tracks merge together just before entering the trestle structure and stays a single line until it exits the tunnel on the back side of the mountain were it switches back to two lines.
The waterfall structure is old fashioned wire frame and Plaster of Paris with regular lichen and model trees added for foliage. A black curtain hangs behind a large black tub and pump which supply water to the 'Lower Falls'. The upper area is self contained and waterfall can be operated separately from one another. Like all the features of my indoor railroad they can be switched off to run in a silent lights only mode.
